Dr. Holcomb has been helping beings thrive and working with various healing modalities for as long as she can remember. Growing up with passionate gardener for a father, a gourmet cook for a mother, and spending hours in the natural world, helped shape her understanding of the multitude of ways in which we can foster wellbeing.
Unresolved health challenges from a young age helped her seek out alternative paths for answers to complex diagnoses including asthma, irritable bowel syndrome (SIBO), fibromyalgia and chronic pain. With little relief via conventional treatments, Holcomb broadened her perspective on medicine. She began studying yoga in 1998, began implementing nutritional changes including becoming gluten and dairy free in 2000, and learned of the subtle but profound effects of cranial sacral therapy in the same time period. While on a trip after graduating Magna Cum Laude from Middlebury College with a BA in environmental policy, she received a clear message that until people healed themselves, they would never be able to “heal the planet”. This led her to study botanical medicine at the California School of Herbal Studies; attend the University of Montana for pre-medical education; and ultimately earn her doctorate from National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM).
Outside of her doctorate, Dr Holcomb also completed extra training in Homeopathy, Biotherapeutic Drainage, Cranial Sacral Therapy, Holistic Pelvic Care, Reiki, Bodytalk, Applied Kinesiology, and many other healing systems. Her nuanced understanding of the human body-mind-spirit helps her blend conventional medical knowledge with the vast world of integrative and functional medicine. When working with patients she combines reductionist scientific thinking with a holistic perspective in order to get to the root of a person’s illness.
Dr Holcomb practices family medicine, treating people from preconception and pregnancy on up. As a primary care physician she diagnoses and treats a wide range of health issues with a focus in autoimmune disease, hormones and women’s health, digestive dysfunction, postpartum care, sports medicine, and complex chronic diseases. She believes that each person is an individual and that medicine must be uniquely tailored to that person and to YOUR story for optimal efficacy.
After over a decade in solo practice, Holcomb and her business partner Katie Cook-Bretson, founded Enso Natural Medicine to foster community, create a collective where education and collaboration was woven into work, and to offer a healing space for Bozeman and beyond. When not cultivating Enso, Dr Holcomb can be found in awe of her two spirited daughters, playing in the mountains with her husband and dog, attempting to garden in Montana, or studying some fascinating aspect of medicine.
