Frequently Asked Questions

What sets apart Enso from my current healthcare provider(s)?

Collectively at Enso we have nearly 150 years of working in integrative healthcare. Practitioners at Enso both live and practice their medicine. We care deeply and connect with our clients and patients, spending the time necessary to get a full understanding of your individual concerns and needs. Deeply passionate and skilled at what we do, we are here to listen to and support you in your best health.

I have never received care from a Naturopath Doctor.  What should I expect?

Naturopathic Doctors work through the lens of seeing patients as a whole being, not separate parts. With this holistic perspective, we diagnose, prevent and treat both acute and chronic illness and support the person’s innate self-healing process. Licensed as physicians in the state of Montana, an ND will determine your particular needs and create a plan that can include physical exam, laboratory testing, and various therapies to help with healing. Initial visits at Enso take up to 90 minutes and are a thorough conversation about your history, current concerns, and future health goals. Follow up visits depend on what is needed and vary in length from 30 minutes to an hour.  Patients are provided with tools to use outside of the office to further support their own health including: botanical medicine and nutritional supplements to restore and regenerate, dietary counseling, lifestyle changes to help remove obstacles of health, and pharmaceutical prescriptions when needed.

I have never received acupuncture.  What should I expect?

Receiving acupuncture involves a thorough medical and life history intake, followed by a brief physical exam, lasting about an hour. During this time, we will clarify specific health concerns, discuss your hopes and goals in cultivating enhanced balance, and distill what wellbeing means to you.

After the intake, single use, sterile, hair-thin needles are inserted into acupuncture points, or meridians that correspond to organ systems or areas of bound tension (similar to dry needling) in your body while you comfortably lay on a massage table. In addition, adjunct therapies are used to facilitate your individualized care, including: moxibustion, cupping, guasha, electrical stimulation, herbal medicine, diet therapy, bodywork, mindfulness and breathing techniques.

After the initial consult we will formulate a treatment plan crafted to your health and wellness needs. Treatment frequency can vary from weekly to seasonal depending on your unique goals.

After receiving acupuncture physical, emotional, or mental shifts are often experienced.  This means energy is moving and new patterns are being created. If you have any concerns after receiving an acupuncture treatment please follow-up with our clinic immediately.

When you visit Enso, you will be warmly welcomed. We understand that health isn’t easily defined, but is an experience of feeling better. Our goal is to help you feel supported in every part of your visit so your innate healing is felt throughout your entire body - both physically and emotionally.

The front desk will welcome you with an Enso Botanic tea, help you fill out paperwork, and settle from the life’s pace into one that brings you into the present. Your practitioner will then meet you and check-in with your latest goals, reflect on life’s hindrances, and make a treatment plan. Depending on your appointment type, you may receive a treatment or consult for the length of your time. All of our sessions are intended to have an ample amount time for you to feel heard and fully supported in working towards better health.

I have never been to a Holistic Integrative Medical Center.  What should I expect?

Yes, upon your request and with your permission. We believe that optimal health has many facets and working with a team to integrate your care is a part of our mission.  Whether you see someone at our clinic or another, we are always happy to dialogue and work together with other healthcare providers to insure your optimal health and wellness.

Will my practitioner interact with other health care practitioners?

What conditions can practitioners at Enso Treat?

At Enso, we treat the whole person. We have learned that you can’t separate out our parts and have a healthy functioning whole human-being. That said, we treat nearly everything – physical, bio-medical, emotional, mental, spiritual. What a practitioner treats depends on the scope of their licensure and everyone has a unique focus in their work. We pride ourselves on the depth of knowledge each one of us has and finding the practitioner for your needs may take a little understanding on each of their offerings.

For massage and bodywork we tend to use specific treatment modalities that dive deep into postural imbalances, injuries, visceral (organ systems) and nervous system rebalancing. These treatments are great when you want to make progress in the physical functioning of the body including: muscular pain (chronic or acute), injury rehab and prevention, pregnancy massage,  muscle weakness, digestion and elimination, understanding and re-wiring your body’s patterning, and more.

Chinese medicine can help most any aspect of health, which is hard to wrap our Western minds around. Chinese medicine looks to the whole – ‘the root’ first, then the specifics ‘the branches’ and treats both, together, while bolstering our innate wisdom to heal naturally, rather than chasing or suppressing symptoms. It is wonderful in treating complex and layered health conditions – physical, emotional and spiritual. This said, it treats almost any health concern to some degree: physical pain, chronic conditions, digestive challenges, organ system functioning, migraines and headaches, sleep imbalances, hormonal imbalances, adrenal support, fertility, emotional tensions, and also considers the deeper parts of the unknown of being human.

Our Nutrition Coach has ongoing programs that are tailored to everyone’s unique health goals through diet and supplementations. She enjoys working with both men and women supporting auto-immune diets, SIBO, weight loss, athletes, and anyone wanting to feel better in their body.

All of our services target different areas of health, and all of our providers have their unique specializations. Reading our services page may help you narrow your treatment choice down, then reading about each provider may help you choose a provider. If you would like to have help booking an appointment with the provider best suited to your needs, please call the office.

Once you see someone, we may intentionally recommend someone else at Enso, or in our Bozeman community, if your needs could be better cared for synergistically or with another provider all together. Our intention is to create the best team for your unique healthcare needs and we pride ourselves on collaboration as an integrative office, and in our community.

How do I know which service is right for me?

Our apothecary has thoughtfully selected items that focus on improving health including: aromatherapy, tea, supplements, Chinese herbs, CBD, topical oils and liniments, and other retail items that enhance well-being. Our apothecary is available for anyone to shop during our weekday office hours and the front desk can help you with your basic questions.

If you want to create a customized supplement or herbal medicine regimen schedule an appointment with our naturopathic doctor or one of our acupuncturists.

What is your Apothecary and can I come in and buy products & supplements if I am not a patient?

Does Enso take insurance or HSA?

HSA covers all of our services and supplements recommended by our licensed providers. Many insurances cover our services, however, please check with your unique company to fully understand your benefits. We are happy to submit for our providers that are in-network to Blue Cross Blue Shield and Pacific Source for acupuncture and massage and massage for motor vehicle accidents. We do not guarantee coverage if claims are denied, even if benefits are available, and remaining balances are the responsibility of the patient.

We take all major forms of credit cards, checks, and cash, HSA and insurance when applicable.

What payment methods are accepted?

I’m still CONFUSED, I need to talk to someone, how do I get more information on which service is right for me?

The front office is open weekly from 9am-5pm to call, text, or swing by and chat with. They can describe each of our services from first hand experience and answer many basic questions about different aspects of our offerings.  Several of our providers offer a complimentary consultation to see if their offerings align with your goals and expectations.
